The New Year's Resolution Your Dog Will Thank You For!

At Listen Dog Training we hate the January Blues... so we've come up with the perfect antidote that you and your dog will love!

Christmas is terrifyingly close now – if you have children you’re probably scraping them off the ceiling at least five times a day… and if you don’t, you’re probably desperately trying to recover from your office Christmas party just in time for NY Eve’s big night out.

Whatever you have planned for this festive season, just spare a thought for what’s hiding right around the corner, clutching miserable weather in one claw and a fistful of bills in the other… namely, JANUARY.

I know, I know, and I really don’t mean to put a dampener on the festive proceedings, but in order to avoid a bad dose of the January blues, you need to acknowledge what's coming, and prepare for that beastly month now!

I’ve always found the best way to tackle January is with a plan in mind – and I don’t mean a headful of the same old resolutions that you make and break year after year – I mean something new, something fun, something measurable, and something you can be passionate about.

I mean trick-training!

If you’re reading this, I’m guessing you own a dog… and if you own a dog, there is no better way to keep their mind busy, improve your relationship with them, and have oodles of fun yourself, than getting involved in trick-training.  If it’s not something you’ve ever looked into, then find out just why I think trick-training is so amazing here.

Not only is it a fantastic activity to have up your sleeve for a rainy day, but the more you do, the better you and your dog will get… it really is that simple.  If you think it’s something you’d like to try, but you have no idea where to start, then fear not – you can start right here!

I run a completely free online trick-training group, open to everyone from complete beginners to training fanatics. Almost 60 members are already involved, receiving weekly training videos, sharing tips and advice on all things doggy in our private Facebook group, and working towards their Listen Dog Training Trick-Dog Certificate!

And if you fancy joining them, there’s no better time to get involved than right now! Trick-training is the perfect way to wear your dog out when freezing January weather makes long walks harder to manage, plus it gives you something fun to focus on during one of the bleakest months of the year and beyond.

Just think where you could be by the time summer rolls around if you get stuck in now…
